BERTHA EVELYN ROGERS Bertha Evelyn Rogers, daughter of Alfred and Amy Jane Jones Hemphill, was born, July 19, 1916 in Dove, Missouri. She departed this life, Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in Lake Ozark Retirement Center, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, six months and eleven days. On May 10, 1935, she was united in marriage to Oras Franklin Rogers and to this union thirteen children were born. Together they shared forty-seven years until his passing on February 4, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Ollie Eileen Rogers and Delores June Hutchens; three sisters, Clara, Odie and Niecie and six brothers, Amos, Milan, Emmett, Timmy, Tommy and Johnny. Survivors include four sons, Charles O. Rogers and wife Rosemary of Roach, Missouri, Carl F. Rogers and wife Mildred of Camdenton, Missouri; Ronnie E. Rogers and Roger S. Rogers both of Linn Creek, Missouri; seven daughters, Bernice Wood and husband Ralph of Eldon, Missouri, Jane Bruscher of Macks Creek, Missouri, Shirley Yardley of Kaiser, Missouri, Patsy Wyrick and husband Albert of Cole Camp, Missouri, Coalene Smyth of Kaiser, Missouri, Norma Rogers McConnell and husband David McConnell of Macks Creek, Missouri and Bonnie Bachtel and husband Robert of Montreal, Missouri; thirty-one grandchildren; seventy-two great-grandchildren; forty-one great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Andy Hemphill of Lebanon, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and many friends. Bertha was raised in the Lebanon and Dove area. Once married, she and Oras moved to rural Roach, Missouri. She continued to live in Camden County the rest of her life. She was a full-time mother and homemaker. She made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the United Apostolic Pentecostal Church. In spare time she enjoyed sewing and quilting and made many beautiful projects. With a large family, cooking and gardening were a must, but she enjoyed those tasks and was very good at both. She spent many hours reading her Bible. Most of all, she enjoyed many family gatherings and spending time with family and friends. Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. She made an impact on many lives and her memory will live on forever in our hearts. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2008 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Big Niangua Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
