BOB FUNKE Robert Francis Funke, Jr., son of Robert Francis Funke, Sr. and Mina Bess Kastner Funke, was born, May 21, 1937 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He departed this life, Thursday, June 13, 2013, in his home, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of seventy-six years and twenty-three days. On March 21, 1958 in Tacoma, Washington, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Sund and to this union four children were born. Together they shared fifty-five years of marriage He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Michelle Funke and a nephew, David Blumel. Survivors include his wife, Liz Funke of the home; four children, Kristina Trester and husband Gary of Kansas City, Missouri; Robert Funke, III of Wichita, Kansas, Todd Funke and wife Cindy of Camdenton, Missouri and Jason Funke and wife Lyndsay of Camdenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Michelle, Kyle and Zoe; a sister, Joyce Blumel and husband Bill of Lake Andes, South Dakota; two brothers, Tom Funke and wife Dorothy of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Steve Funke and wife Dottie of Omaha, Nebraska and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Bob was raised in Nebraska and was a graduate of Nebraska City High School in the class of 1955. After graduation, he studied at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, he was married and he and Liz made their home in Eugene, Oregon. They later moved to Omaha, Nebraska then to Kansas City, Missouri where he worked for McPike Wholesale Drug Company and later owned a cabinet shop in Independence, Missouri. They moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where they owned and operated Gambles Hardware Store and Century 21 Land and Shores Realty. Bob was always active in the community and had been a member of the Camdenton Moose Lodge, Chamber of Commerce and Rotary. He had also been a member of the Elks Lodge in Nebraska. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, remodeling and boating. He was a handy-man extraordinaire. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in Camdenton United Methodist Church under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. Memorial donations may be made to Regional Hospice and left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
