DONALD RAY BELLMER Donald Ray Bellmer, son of Herbert Henry and Mary Ethel Dirck Bellmer, was born, December 28, 1931 in Sedalia, Missouri. He departed this life, Thursday, July 9, 2015, in Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Missouri at the age of eighty-three years, six months and eleven days. On September 25, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary Josephine Weller and to this union four children were born. Together they shared sixty years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Lou Bellmer and two brothers, James Bellmer and Herbert Bellmer, Jr. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Jo Bellmer of Osage Beach, Missouri; four children, Joe Bellmer and wife Debbie of Columbia, Missouri; Mary K. Williams and husband Bret of Sedalia, Missouri and Ellen Bellmer and Diane Brennaman and husband Steve all of Camdenton, Missouri; three grandchildren, Quinn Bellmer and Elizabeth Kettle and husband Jacob all of Columbia, Missouri and Kyle Brennaman of Oxford, Alabama; three great-grandchildren, Lillian Kettle, Parker Kettle and Nash Bellmer; a sister, Carolyn Walters of Sedalia, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Don was raised in Sedalia, Missouri and was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. He graduated from Mortuary School in St. Louis and before he could begin his career, he was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly defended his country during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Sedalia, where he began his career-long occupation as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. He worked at Ewing Funeral Home in Sedalia, Norman-Wagy Funeral Home in Chillicothe and later was the manager of Hedges Funeral Home in Camdenton. He spent his retirement working at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Don was baptized into the Catholic Church and was a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton where he served on the Finance Committee. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia and was the President of the School Board and served on the Parish Council. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus in Council 6365. Don was an avid golfer and a member of Lake Valley Country Club. He enjoyed weekly golf outing with a group of friends and Stag night at the Country Club. He enjoyed boating on the lake. Most of all, spending time with his family brought him joy. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. He dedicated his life to the service of others. He helped many grieving families and touched many lives. His memory will linger on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Camdenton. Graveside services will be at 3:30 Wednesday in Calvary Cemetery, Sedalia. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Anthony Catholic Church and left at the funeral home or the church. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
