FRED DUTTON Frederic George Dutton, son of Clyde Ernest and Dorotha Mary Crawford Dutton, was born November 7, 1931 in Springvale, Maine. He departed this life Friday, September 14, 2012 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty years, ten months and seven days. On December 29, 1956 in DuQuoin, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Suzanne Bennett and to this union two daughters were born. Together they shared the past fifty-five years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara Lynn Smith and a brother, Robert S. Dutton. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Dutton of the home; a daughter, Janet Dutton and husband Steve Jerrett of Columbia, Missouri; two grandchildren, Caroline Pitchford of Columbia, Missouri and Ellen Smith of Kaiser, Missouri; a son-in-law, Richard J. Smith of Kaiser, Missouri and a host of other relatives and many friends. Fred lived in Maine until the age of thirteen. The family moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where he graduated from high school. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he enrolled in Michigan State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in 1957 and a Master's Degree in Social Work in 1959. He moved to Hamilton, Ohio where he worked for a metal health clinic. In 1964, he relocated to Kankakee, Illinois and served as director of a mental health clinic. 1967 brought a move to Columbia, Missouri where he served at the University of Missouri Medical Center in the Department of Social Services and later became the director of that department. He was also an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. In 1986, he moved to Galveston, Texas where he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1996. He made a profession of faith and attended Lake Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking. He made many wonderful dulcimers and toys throughout the years. He also did leather work and stained glass. Fishing was an enjoyable get away for him. Most of all, he was happiest being at home with his family. Fred was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Lake Presbyterian Church, Osage Beach, under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday in the church prior to the service. Burial will be in Allee Memorial Gardens, Camdenton. Memorial donations may be made to Lake Presbyterian Church Building Fund and left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
