Lois Alta Christensen, daughter of Arthur Louis and Annie May Luckinbill Shafer, was born, April 18, 1932 in Hugo, Missouri. She departed this life, Sunday, November 30, 2008 in Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Missouri at the age of seventy-six years, seven months and twelve days. On June 5, 1950 in Linn Creek, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Charles Mathias "Charlie" Christensen and to this union seven children were born. Together they shared over fifty-five years of marriage until his passing on May 23, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kitty Allen. Survivors include her children, Charles D. Christensen and wife Kris and Roy J. Christensen and wife Roxanne all of Montreal, Missouri, Susan Cretton and husband Duke of Eldridge, Missouri, Arla Lawrence and husband Fred of Havana, Illinois, Arthur Christensen of Rawlins, Wyoming, Lois Rasmussen of Montreal, Missouri and Teddy Christensen of Green River, Wyoming, twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hattie Wallis of Linn Creek, Missouri, Hazel Walker of Van Horn, Texas and Ruby Sedgwick of Houston, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Lois was a life-long resident of Camden County. She worked as a presser for a dry cleaner early in life and later was a maid at Tan-Tar-A. She was a waitress for many years at the Old Smorgasbord Restaurant and later worked as a machine operator for Sunstrand (now Modine). She retired from Modine in 1994 after eighteen years of service. Her greatest joy, however, was being a wife and a mother. She made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, reading and hunting. She loved growing a garden and especially loved flowers. Lois was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. She made an impact on many lives and her memory will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 4, 2008 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, in the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
