Ronald Perry Shumate, son of John Perry and Helen Gertrude Evans Shumate, was born February 18, 1927 in Glenwood, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, ten months, and twenty-three days. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joann Sturgess; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Fair. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Robert Shumate and wife Pamela, of Toledo, Ohio, and Dwight Shumate, of Camdenton, Missouri; two daughters, Sherry Fair, of Delphos, Ohio, and Amy Jackson, of Lima, Ohio; his grandchildren, Richard Shumate and wife Kristen, Michael Shumate, Kelly Hubert and husband Leonard, Jennifer Comer and husband Matthew, and Seth Jackson; his great-grandchildren, Audrey, Graham, Logan, Gavin, and Emma; a number of nieces, nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Ron was a graduate of Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He entered the United States Army following his graduation and later entered the United States Air Force, and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Ron went to work at Westinghouse as a Materials Technician in the Aerospace Division and retired after thirty-seven years of loyal service. After his retirement, Ron moved to the Lake of the Ozarks to make his home. Ron had made a profession of faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Community Christian Church of Camdenton, where he was active in the Choir. Ron was a member of the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians, Zack Wheat American Legion Post 624 in Sunrise Beach, Missouri, and was a Boy Scout Troop leader in his younger years. Ron was an avid photographer and had taken many beautiful photos throughout the years. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Spending time with his family and friends was something that he truly cherished. Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his long life and many accomplishments, and will treasure the memories he has created for his family and friends.
