Rutherford B. 'Rocky' Mills, Jr.

Rutherford B. “Rocky” Mills, Jr. Rutherford Buford Mills, Jr. son of Rutherford Buford, Sr., and Nadine Alta Pointer Mills, was born April 6, 1936. He departed this life, Monday, December 28, 2015 in University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri at the age of seventy-nine years, eight months and twenty-two days. He was united in marriage to, Evelyn Mills who preceded him in death. He later married Joann Mills who preceded him in death as well. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his sons, William Mills and Robert Mills; one granddaughter, Amy Bigley and one great-granddaughter, Haley Bigley. He is survived by his three children, Rutherford Mills, III and wife Connie of Camdenton, Missouri, Ron Mills of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Beverly Green of Camdenton, Missouri; 3 stepchildren, David Chambers and wife Karen, Charles Mills and Debbie Alexander all of Kansas City, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and many friends. “Rocky” served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War receiving such medals as the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Sharp Shooter Medal and many others. In his spare time “Rocky” loved dancing and spending time with great friends and family. “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.” A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2016 with Military Honors at 3:30 p.m. in Elks Lodge #2517, Osage Beach, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Shriner’s Children Hospital and left at the Elks Lodge #2517 the day of service or at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral of Camdenton, Missouri is assisting the family with their arrangements.
