ALFRED "BURT" LEWIS Alfred Burton Lewis, son of Alfred and Bess M. Eighmy Lewis, was born, October 27, 1916 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He departed this life, Monday, May 19, 2008 in Windsor Estates, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of ninety-one years, six months and twenty-two days. On February 28, 1970, he was united in marriage to Mildred Ileen Deweese-Carey. Together they shared thirty-five years until her passing in 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Survivors include his son, John Carey and wife Deronda of Camdenton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Johnna, Dan and Michelle Carey, Danielle Caiazzo and husband Lee and Darin Zebell and wife Rochelle; ten great-grandchildren; two nieces, Shirley Patterson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Judy Gale of Parker, Colorado; a great-niece and a great-great-niece and a great-great-nephew. Burt was raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa and graduated from high school there. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. After he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he made his home in Kansas. He later moved to Kansas City where he remained until twelve years ago, when he moved to the lake area. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after twenty-three years of service at the Independence, Missouri Post Office. He was a member of the American Legion in Kansas City, Missouri and the Unity Church in Blue Springs, Missouri. In spare time he and his wife enjoyed traveling and sight seeing. He especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Burt was a loving father, grandfather and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. He left a wonderful impression on those he touched and he will be missed greatly.
