ANNABELLE L. JOHNSON Annabelle Lee Johnson, daughter of Harley L. and Marguerite M. Martin Tompkins, was born, October 21, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri. She departed this life, Friday, August 31, 2007 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-one years, ten months and ten days. On October 22, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Fred Howard Johnson and to this union seven children were born. Together they shared forty-four years until his passing on April 6, 1999. She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, John Tompkins and a sister, Judy Hedrick. Survivors include her mother, Marguerite Tompkins of Kansas City, Missouri; seven children, Sherry Hoffecker and husband Beau of North Kansas City, Missouri, Claude Johnson and wife Tammy of Independence, Missouri, Jerry Johnson and wife Donna of Versailles, Missouri, Kelly Kauffman of Kansas City, Missouri, Shannon Robson and husband Scott of Kearney, Missouri, Terri Benjamin and husband Adam of Eldon, Missouri and Ralph Johnson and wife Kari of Osage Beach, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harley Tompkins of Kansas City, Missouri and Richard Tompkins of Tucson, Arizona; four sisters, Kathy Booth of Kansas City, Missouri, Marlene Freis of Raymore, Missouri, Darlene Greene of Kansas City, Missouri and Beck Salley of Waynesville, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was raised in Kansas City and graduated from East High School in the class of 1953. After marriage, she and her husband lived in various places throughout the United States while he served in the military. They retired to the lake area in 1982. She had worked in retail sales most of her working career. Ann made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Gravios Mills United Methodist Church. She was also a member of VFW Women's Auxiliary Post 509 and Lake Area Citizens Advisory Board. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time of the computer, eating out and shopping, especially for purses. She loved going to garage sales and finding good deals. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grand children and great-grandchildren. Ann was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. She made an impact on many lives and will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2007 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Allee Memorial Gardens, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
