Barbara Ann Coleman, daughter of Joseph F. Fritz and Dora L. Dixon Fritz was born July 25, 1935 in Fulton, Missouri. She departed this life, March 1, 2023, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years, seven months and four days.
On December 31, 1965 she was united in marriage Art Coleman. Art was a loving and caring husband and father, adopting Barbara’s four children in 1970. Together Barbara and Art shared thirty-five years of marriage until Art’s passing in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband Art and both her parents.
She is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Hohenshell & husband Craig of Linn Creek, Missouri; three sons, Rick Allen of Fulton, Missouri, Doug Coleman & wife Sue of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Joe Coleman & wife Antoinette of Shawnee, Kansas; three granddaughters, Heather Sapp, Amy Coleman, Kelsey Coleman; two grandsons, Matthew Hohenshell, Chase Coleman; one sister, Kathy Slezak of Overland Park, Kansas; her very dear niece Sheri Schlarman of Shawnee, Kansas. As well as a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Barbara was raised in Fulton, Missouri and was a 1953 graduate from Fulton High School. Shortly after graduation Barbara moved to Kansas City where she began her career with AT&T and started her family. Barbara began her retirement in 1989 after twenty-three years of dedication to AT&T and she and Art moved to the beaches of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Regardless of distances between her and her children and grandchildren Barbara made it a point to always find a way for family time as her family was by far the most important thing in her life. After her husband Art’s passing in 2000, Barbara moved to Overland Park, Kansas to be closer to her family.
In her spare time Barbara enjoyed shopping, traveling, a good game of cards. Barbara really enjoyed going to the Beach and taking walks with Art along the shore. Together they enjoyed Golfing they took many Cruises!
Barbara was a loving and a caring mother, sister, grandmother, neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be posted once the plans are complete.
