BERNARD J. "BERNIE" POELING Bernard Joseph Poeling was born, October 27, 1941 in Alton, Illinois the son of Peter Paul and Nettie Emma Erb Poeling. He departed this life, Thursday, December 20, 2007 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of sixty-six years, one month and twenty-three days. On April 20, 1966 in Edwardsville, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Mary Lynn Albl and to this union two children were born. Together they shared the past forty-one years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eugene F. Poeling. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Lynn of the home; a daughter, Lisa Rosenthal and husband Bob of Edwardsville, Illinois; a son, Craig Poeling of Fairfax, Virginia; a brother, Paul Poeling and wife Myra of Staunton, Illinois; a sister, Mary Lou Sutton of Alton, Illinois and many nieces, nephews, other relative and friends. Bernie was raised in the St. Charles, Missouri area and graduated from High School there. He served for six years with the Illinois National Guard and was honorably discharged. He moved to Edwardsville, Illinois and began a career with Laclede Steel in Alton, Illinois. He retired after thirty-five years to the company. In 1995 he and his wife retired to the Osage Beach area of the Lake of the Ozarks. He was baptized into the Catholic Church and attended St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Illinois and St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton. In his spare time he enjoyed antiques and restored furniture, cars and toys. He enjoyed woodworking. He spent many hours playing Texas Hold 'Em here at the lake. Bernard was a loving husband, father, brother and uncles and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. A memorial visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, December 23, 2007 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Edwardsville, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
