BERTHA MARTENS Bertha Cecelia Martens, daughter of Karl Joseph and Mary Hoge Kramer, was born, September 13, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri. She departed this life, Saturday, May 10, 2014, in Garden Valley Nursing and Rehab, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of ninety-six years, seven months and twenty-seven days. On April 29, 1939 in St. James Parrish, Kansas City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Charles Joseph Martens. Together they shared forty-five years of marriage until his passing on October 15, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and one brother. Survivors include three nieces and one nephew and their families and also a host of other relatives and many friends. Bertha was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and attended St. James Parochial School. She and her husband worked in the resort industry at Lake of the Ozarks. Bertha was baptized into the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Camdenton. She was a very active lady and enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and crafts. She was a member of the Crafty Ladies, Woman's Sodality and the Prayer Line at her church. She spent many hours doing nursing home visits. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Laurie. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday in the church. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
