Berton H. “Bert” Dampier, son of the late Erna Starr & Edna Mae (Stroup) Dampier, was born on September 8, 1935 and departed this life on August 12, 2020. At the time of his passing he was eighty-four years, eleven months and four days of age. As a child raised in a naval family, Bert lived in various different places growing up. However, the family settled in the Windyville, Missouri area where he later graduated from Windyville High School. On April 7, 1956, Bert was united in marriage to Patricia Jo Alexander. Together they shared sixty-four beautiful years of marriage and to this union four children were born, three of whom survive him. Bert was a very proud father to his children. As they were growing up, he was always involved in coaching their little league teams and then continued to attend all their sporting events as they got older. In his working years, Bert had a devoted thirty-three-year career at The National Life and Accident Insurance Company. During his time with the company the family took several trips to Nashville, Tennessee and various other places. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, gun collecting, trout fishing and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. He also was a member of the Whitetail Trophy Hunt for several years. Bert was preceded in passing by his son, Kevin Dampier and his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Dampier of Camdenton, Missouri; three sons, John & wife Lesa Dampier of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Thomas & wife Lois Dampier of Columbia, Missouri and Jason & wife Connie Dampier of Camdenton, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Matthew Dampier, Jessica Lynne Dampier, Brian Dampier, Jill (Dampier) & husband Josh Feeler, Tanner Dampier, Tyler Dampier, Cassi Dampier, Savanna (Dampier) & husband Matthew Wallace, Kylie Dampier, Alison Dampier & Mason Dampier; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernie Jr & wife Bee Dampier; and one sister, Betty Willink. He also leaves behind several friends and other family members who will all truly miss him.
