BETTY JEAN JEFFRIES CALVERT Betty Jean Jeffries Calvert, daughter of Robert and Jessie Jones Fudge, was born, March 6, 1936 in Valley Park, Missouri. She departed this life, Sunday, July 27, 2014, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-eight years, four months and twenty-one days. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Louis Donald Jeffries and to this union three children were born. Together they shared thirty-one years of marriage before his passing in 1983. She later married Wallis Calvert and his preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Fudge and a sister, Loretta Taylor. She is survived by three children, Mike Jeffries and wife Michele of Camdenton, Missouri, Lee Jeffries of Warsaw, Missouri and Alice Allred and husband Alan of Flemington, Missouri; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, John Fudge and wife Alice of Innsbrook, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Betty was raised in and around Montreal and Linn Creek, Missouri. She attended Linn Creek School through the eighth grade and then attended Camdenton High School. Betty and her husband operated a skating rink in Sedalia, Missouri for five and a half years and retired to live on the Lake of the Ozarks in the Hurricane Deck area. Betty made a profession of faith and was a member of Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church in Montreal where she was active in the UMW (Women On Mission). She loved gospel music, church fellowships and sang in the choir. She taught an adult women's Sunday School class for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for her children and grandchildren. She was an artist who enjoyed painting and loved to read. Most of all, her children and grandchildren were important to her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. She touched many lives and her memory will linger on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014 in Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery, Montreal. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
