BETTY PHILLIPS Betty Alice Phillips, daughter of Richard Eugene and Hazel Ruth Robinson Danner, was born, March 23, 1941 in Independence, Missouri. She departed this life, Wednesday, May 28, 2008 in her home, Edwards, Missouri at the age of sixty-seven years, two months and five days. On March 24, 1956 in Miami, Oklahoma, she was united in marriage to Larry Dave Phillips. Together they shared the past fifty-two years. A ceremony was held in 2004 where they renewed their wedding vows to demonstrate their love for one another. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl C. Phillips. Survivors include her loving husband, Larry of the home; four children, Vickie Gilliland and husband Mark of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Larry Wayne Phillips of Edwards, Missouri, Troy Phillips and wife Deann of Cross Timbers, Missouri and Jeffrey Mel Phillips and wife Debbie Jo of Climax Springs, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a daughter-at-heart, Trish Leyh of Bolivar, Missouri; two sons-at-heart, Mark Phillips and Bobby Phillips both of Climax Springs, Missouri; a brother, Ricky Danner and wife Sharon of Kansas city, Missouri; four sisters, Barbara Ann Quinn and husband Robert of Independence, Missouri, Kathy Ronsley of Oak Grove, Missouri, Connie LeMaster and husband Lee of Independence, Missouri and Terry Lynn Fohn and husband Melvin of Lee's Summit, Missouri; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives; friends and many developmentally disabled people that she helped throughout out the years. Betty was raised in Independence, Missouri and attended school there. After her marriage to Larry, they made their home in Independence for a short time before moving to a home in the country in rural Edwards, Missouri. There they lovingly raised their children. Betty and Larry were very selfless people, who gave of their time and resources to help others. When Larry's brother had a severe health issue, Larry and Betty quit their jobs and moved the family to Independence to take care of his brother's children. After returning home, they opened their home as foster parents to developmentally disabled children and cared for them night and day for over twenty-three years. Betty also retired from Lake Ozarks Developmental Center in Camdenton after twenty-four years of service as a teacher, supervisor and bus driver. Betty made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Ozark Bethel Chapel Assembly of God Church in Climax Springs. In her spare time, she enjoyed filling up the tank and hitting the highway. She and Larry enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Most of all, she loved being a mother and a grandmother and spending time with her family. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. She touched countless lives during her life and made a huge impact on those lives she touched. We celebrate her life and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2008 in Ozark Bethel Chapel Assembly of God in Climax Springs under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. Burial will follow in Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
