Bob white was born the only son and middle child of Howard and Helen White on July 26, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. At the young age of five years, his family moved to Southern California where, from this Christian home and other spiritual influences, he heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. But, in his teens, he chose to go his own way. During the Vietnam War, he was drafted into the army, but in his Sovereignty, God had him stationed in Korea instead of Vietnam, thereby protecting him from the horrors of that war. It was one of many ways that God protected and preserved his life. Because of the faithful prayers of his mother and two sisters, he was once again brought into contact with the truth of God’s Word and made the forever life saving decision to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of twenty-five. He immediately experienced what has since defined his life and became his favorite verse, “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new. II Corinthians 5:17, KJV”
He later purchased land in Oregan and eventually built a house there. But before that, he returned to Southern California, where he met his wife, Judy Johnson, at a small church in Covina, California, where they were married and started a family. Upon receiving his college degree form Cal Sate LA, they all returned to Oregon to begin a new life there.
From the day of his salvation, Bob had a thirst for God’s Word and had a desire to teach it as he grew spiritually. Because of their love and thankfulness to the Lord for his unconditional love for them, Bob and Judy looked to ways to serve him, which eventually led them into mission work with New Tribes Mission, now Ethos 360, teaching at a school for missionary children in Venezuela from 1994-2006. With his gift of helps, it was his desire to find ways to support tribal missionaries, enabling them to carry out their work of teaching and translating the Good News of salvation. He was able to use his skills as a cabinet maker to bless them with the kind of cabinets they would find back home, making life a little easier in their jungle homes.
After returning to the states and a position with the Tech Center, now called Off Grid Tech, at the missionary training center in Roach, Missouri, Bob became more involved in their church, the Potter’s House, and has enjoyed using his gift of helps to bless individuals with his skills and to help with the maintenance of the church building. After retirement, he has also enjoyed doing volunteer work at Medical Missions for Christ, playing pickle ball, and fishing, along with the occasional bicycle outings he enjoyed with Judy. Bob’s life has been an example of selfless and generous giving, a legacy he hopes to have passed down to others.
Bob was preceded in passing by his parents; and one grandson, Elijah Job White.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy White; two children, Bryson & wife Mindy White and Cora & husband Jeremy Toth; six grandchildren, Hannah (Evan), Macayla, Daniella, Landon, Lydia and Gavin; two sisters, Sandra White and Nancy & husband Frank Cox; and two brothers-in-law, Chuck & wife Janet Johnson and Mike Johnson. In his passing, Bob also leaves behind many friends and other family members who will all truly miss him.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
