CALVIN SHIVERS Calvin Coolidge Shivers, son of James and Edith Tombs Shivers, was born, December 7, 1924 in Camden County, Missouri. He departed this life, Thursday, July 26, 2012, in his home, Montreal, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years, seven months and nineteen days. On November 15, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Burley Piles and to this union two children were born. Together they shared sixty-four years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Warren Shivers and four sisters, Eunice Barber, Fern Long, Claudine Bridgeforth and Beulah Jones. He is survived by his wife, Burley Shivers of the home; two children, Linda Stamper and husband Doyle of South Fork, Colorado and Randy Shivers and wife Sandy of Camdenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Dusty Stamper and wife Christina, Dana Stamper and wife Deserae, Casey Shivers and Cody Shivers; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Long of Richland, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Calvin was raised in the Montreal area. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he and Burley were married and made their home in Kansas City for two years. They then moved back to a farm in the Montreal area where he worked for the State Highway Department for twenty-five years. Calvin made a profession of faith and was a member of Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church in Montreal. In his spare time, he loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed farming and spending time riding his 4-wheeler on the farm. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. He was a gentle man who touched many lives. His memory will linger on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Montreal Cemetery, Montreal. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
