Carl O. Hubbell Ii

Carl O. Hubbell II, son of Carl and Sue (Harrington) Hubbell, was born on September 16, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He departed this life on Friday, January 15, 2021 in Stonebridge Senior Living, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, three months and thirty days. On June 25, 1991, Carl was united in marriage to Barbara Bennett and together they have shared twenty-nine years of marriage. He was preceded in passing by his parents. Carl is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; his daughter, Brenda Hubbell, of Prescott, Arizona; his brother, Jim Hubbell and wife Dian, of Lincoln, Nebraska; a nephew, Ty Hubbell and wife Gwen, of Des Moines, Iowa; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends who will all truly miss him. In his younger years, Carl spent time living in Meeker and Shawnee, Oklahoma, as well as New Jersey and New York. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology. He was a very skilled baseball player and spent time playing AAA Baseball in the Southwestern League. On November 20, 1958, Carl entered into the United States Marine Corps. While serving in the Marine Corps, Carl completed his MBA at Pepperdine University. He was faithful in his service to his county and rose to the rank of Lt. Col. He was most proud of his military career and believed in the saying “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.” Carl served five tours overseas, two in Vietnam and three in Japan. He retired from the Marine Corps on October 1, 1983. Following his retirement, Carl spent fourteen years working at Rockwell International in the Aerospace Division as a Logistics Engineer. He and Barbara moved to the lake area in 1997 from Orange County, California. Physical fitness was a lifelong priority for Carl and he enjoyed playing and watching all sports. Carl was the winner of the All-Marine Handball Championship and was the Lake Valley Senior Men’s Champion. In his spare time, Carl enjoyed fishing, playing golf and traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed his three dogs, Coco, Zoey and Miss Priss. As an avid baseball fan, he watched games on television every season, especially the Royals, Cardinals and San Francisco Giants. Carl was a member of the Marine Corps League, the Elks Lodge in Laurie, Missouri and for over twenty years was a member of Lake Valley Golf Club where he also served as a board member. In 2019, Carl was selected to participate in the Missouri Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Carl had many friends and loved to share stories of his time in the Marine Corps and when he played AAA Baseball. He was a man of both dignity and integrity. A private family service will be held for Carl and a memorial service with a full military honors will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dogwood Animal Shelter. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home
