CARL WEST Carl Harvey West, son of Elijah Joshua and Annie Lucinda Ray West, was born, February 26, 1920 in Camden County, Missouri. He departed this life, Friday, October 25, 2013, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of ninety-three years, seven months and twenty-nine days. On March 23, 1940 in Independence, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Nina Marie Smith. Together they shared seventy-three years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Lewis; a grandson, Jeremy West; three sisters and three brothers. Survivors include his wife, Nina West of the home; four children, Barbara Blanton of Blue Springs, Missouri, Carl West and wife Esther of Camdenton, Missouri, Frances Stearman and husband Terry of Greenwood, Missouri and Dwayne West and wife Jerrianne of Lakewood, Colorado; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John West and Cora Leah of Grandview, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Carl was raised in Camden County. As a young man he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. After his marriage, they made their home in Kansas City for twenty-five years. In 1964, they returned to the lake area. He was a carpenter and a contractor and had been a member of the Carpenters Union in Kansas City. Carl made a profession of faith and attended Living Word Pentecostal Church of God. He loved music and could play most stringed instruments, especially the guitar. He always enjoyed time spent fishing. He was a talented woodworked and made many birdhouses. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 28, 2013 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Monday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Living Word Pentecostal Church of God and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
