Charles Hopper

CHARLES HOPPER Charles Kenneth Hopper, son of Benjamin Kenneth and Clora Evelyn Motley Hopper, was born, January 15, 1936 in Roodhouse, Illinois. He celebrated his seventy-sixth birthday in Heaven with his Lord and Savior and his wife, Linda. On December 8, 1959 in Fort Angeles, Washington, he was united in marriage to Linda Marie Scates. Together they shared forty-nine years of marriage until her passing on September 20, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Westbrook and a brother, Lowell Dean Hopper. Survivors include a nephew, Larry Dean Hopper and wife Mary of Staunton, Illinois; a great-niece, Crystal Carrigan; a great-nephew, Larry Dean Hopper, Jr. and other family and many friends. Charles was raised in Illinois. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. While in the military, he and Linda were married. After being honorably discharged, they made their home in Illinois. After a few years in Texas, they moved to Bethalto, Illinois. On January 3, 1967, Charles began a career with Winchester Western (Olin Corporation). He retired on January 30, 1998 after thirty-one years of service. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists. In 2001 Charles and Linda retired to the Lake of the Ozarks. Charles made a profession of faith and was a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene in Camdenton, Missouri. In Illinois, he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was an active member of both churches. In his spare time he enjoyed cooking and woodworking. He loved people and enjoyed taking the "girls" out to eat after church. He was a loving and caring man and a wonderful neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his memory will linger on in the hearts of those who loved him. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2012 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to New Life Church of the Nazarene and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
