DANIEL ANTHONY WUERTZ Daniel Anthony Wuertz, son of Edward Watt Wuertz and Waunita Sabelia (Snodgrass) Wuertz, was born, November 12, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life, Thursday, March 24, 2016, in his home, Climax Springs, Missouri at the age of seventy-eight years, four months and twelve days. On December 10, 1966 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Andrea DiBetta. Together they shared forty-nine years of marriage until her passing on March 2, 2016 having only been separated on this earth for three weeks. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Shari Lopez Metcalf; a grandson, Travis Ruebel and his siblings, Edna Klein, Theresia Bumstead, Marie Pratt, Edward “Bud” Wuertz and Jacke Wuertz. Survivors include three children, Christopher Wuertz and wife Beth of Wentzville, Missouri, Marie Ruebel and Bill Haley of Hazelwood, Missouri and Dino Nolte and wife Pamela of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Robert Nash and wife Jacqueline, Nicole Ruebel, Corey Nolte, Jene` Lopez Neely, Tony Petrovich, Mark Hosna, Rich Young and Melissa Mitchell; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Jean Holtz of Oakville, Missouri; a brother, Richard Wuertz of Longmont, Colorado and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Daniel was raised in St. Louis. After graduating High School, he served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard. After being honorably discharged, he returned to St. Louis where he worked as a fireman. He later worked as a Police Officer for the City of St. Louis. He went on to work for the Missouri State Water Patrol. He then went to work for St. George Police Department, climbing through the ranks to retire as the Chief of Police. He built a home at Lake of the Ozarks and he and Yvonne moved to the lake in 1986. He ran Badger Point Guns and Ammo and taught and certified conceal and carry classes. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed doing competitive shooting. He was also a member of the American Legion Post in Lemay and Missouri Deputy Sheriff’s Association. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Graveside funeral services and military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Mahn Funeral Home, Festus, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the family. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
