Daniel “Dan” Dale Hagedorn, son of Monte Ludwig and Mary Helen Montgomery Hagedorn, was born February 16, 1943 in Marshall, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in his home at the age of seventy-seven years, four months, and twenty-two days. On December 27, 1969, Dan was united in marriage to Sharon Nugen and to this union four children were born. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, John, who passed in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home; his children, Wendy Buschjost (Jason) of Jefferson City, Missouri; Julie Suzanne Brownell (Rod) of Camdenton, Missouri; and Luke Hagedorn of Osage Beach, Missouri; his grandchildren, Griffin Buschjost and Jacie Buschjost; Anthony Brownell, Henry Brownell (Bai Branson), Avery Brownell, and Harrison Brownell; a brother, David Hagedorn (Robin) of Mission, Kansas, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Dan was a graduate of Slater High School in the Class of 1961 and was a graduate of Central Missouri State University (UCM). He returned to Slater to begin his career in teaching. While working in Slater, Dan coached football and wrestling. Dan was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country until being honorably discharged. Dan accepted a position as Guidance Counselor at Camdenton High School in 1971 where he worked with countless students throughout his career and retired in 1999. He was very active in the Camdenton R-III community. He operated the football game clock on Friday nights for over thirty years and was the starter at the Camdenton Track Meets and as an assistant football coach for many years. Dan was also instrumental in the Student Council and formed the Camdenton High School Scholarship Program, which has helped many graduates to achieve their dreams in higher education. Dan also spent time working as an instructor at State Fair Community College. Following his retirement, Dan was elected to the Camdenton Board of Aldermen in April 2004 until October 2017. Dan served for ten years as Board President and was a vital part of the City of Camdenton during his tenure. Dan was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Camdenton and was a member of the Council Parish for many years. In his younger years, Dan had earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an accomplishment of which he was very proud. When his children were younger, Dan devoted countless hours to coaching their teams. He was a member of the Lebanon Community Theater and participated in many productions there. Dan had a passion for antiques and collectibles and alongside his wife Sharon, owned and operated Another’s Treasures for many years. Dan spent his free time attending his children and grandchildren’s various activities and was proud to support them. He could also be found at many garage sales and auctions. He cherished his family and truly loved the time spent with them. Dan was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Camdenton Lakers, and the Helias Crusaders. Dan was a man of many talents and was loved by all who knew him. We celebrate his life and many accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 12:00 pm in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Camdenton, Missouri. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled from 10:00 am until time of service Saturday in the church. The family requests no flowers to be sent, but instead ask that memorial donations may be made to the Dan Hagedorn Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Raising Hope Free Store. Donations can be mailed to Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home at 15 Clint Avenue, Camdenton, Mo 65020 or left at the church the day of the service.
