Darlene (McClain) Coffey, youngest child of George and Mary McClain, was born on December 1, 1936 in Ottawa, Kansas and departed this life on July 13, 2021 at her home in Camdenton, Missouri. At the time of her passing she was eighty-four years of age. Darlene was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Paul Coffey; two sons, Michael H Coffey and P. David Coffey; three sisters, Mary Edler, Bessie Dougherty, Georgia Dougherty; and one great-grandson, Dillon Dupont. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Hall (Mike) of Anderson, Missouri, Paula Coffey (Dunnie R) of Camdenton, Missouri and Judy Mahoney (John) of Camdenton, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Michael P. Coffey, Christa Dollar (Heath), Brenda Golden, Tammy Coffey, Jennifer Harper (Matthew), Misty DuPont (Jason), David M. Coffey, Paul M. Coffey II (Zac), Justin, Karen Griffin (Andrew) and Devon Coffey; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a forever daughter-in-law, Dora Coffey. She also leaves behind many friends who will all truly miss her. On June 20, 1954, at Victoria Tabernacle in Kansas City, Kansas, Darlene was united in marriage to Paul M. Coffey and to this union five children were born; three of whom survive her. Darlene graduated from Kansas City Institute of Practical Nursing and worked at Osteopathic Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1971, the family moved to the lake, just a few miles from where Paul was born and raised, as they wanted to get the family out of the hectic city life. They made one move to their forever property, starting in anew trailer house, then building a small house to live in until the family home was completed in 1980. Little did they know, Darlene would become a widow at forty-six; Paul was fifty-two when he passed. This is where she continued to live until her passing. Darlene worked at a local nursing home for many years, owned a clothing store for a while, private duty care in her home and eventually retired from Remax properties after several years of “working with the finest people she’d ever known”. Darlene truly cherished the holiday season. She would host Thanksgiving, Christmas, Fourth of July, Birthday Parties & Family Gatherings all at her house, putting love into every meal she prepared. She was able to travel with some of the older grandkids when they were younger, making many special memories for them to cherish. As her health declined, she made different special memories with the great-grandkids. in her later years, she enjoyed crocheting (Afghans for all!), quilting (Quilts for all!) puzzles, playing card games and most recently adult coloring. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of Sunrise Baptist Church. She enjoyed the fellowship when her health allowed her to attend. When we think of our mom and grandma, we think of a warrior; a woman of strength. One of her favorite scriptures was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”; and that she did!
