Darlene Conner

DARLENE CONNER Betty Darlene Conner, daughter of John Warren and Betty Geneva Shepherd Burch, was born, March 15, 1961 in Columbia, Missouri. She departed this life, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 in her home in Montreal, Missouri at the age of forty-seven years, nine months and fifteen days. On June 12, 1976 in Old Path Baptist Church, Eldon, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Stanley Joseph Conner and to this union three children were born. Together they shared thirty-two years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her husband, Stanley Conner of the home; three children, Helen Christensen and husband Charley of Montreal, Missouri, Joseph Conner and wife Joy of Eldon, Missouri and Gina Conner of Montreal, Missouri; five grandchildren, Anna, Ashley, Matthew, Madaline and Olivia; her mother, Betty Burch of Camdenton, Missouri; a sister, Teresa Hicks of Camdenton, Missouri; two brothers, Kenneth Burch of Troy, Missouri and Mike Burch of Independence, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Darlene was raised in Camdenton and after her marriage to Stanley; they made their home in Eldon, Missouri where they lovingly raised their children. They moved to Montreal three years ago. She made a profession of faith in Christ and was a faithful member of Myetta Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her church and attended as often as she could. While living in Eldon, she was a member of the Old Time Gospel Church. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and she loved spending time with them. She found joy in writing and spent many hours creating letters, stories and journaling. She was very creative and made many wonderful scrapbooks and had a knack for making simple things look beautiful. Like many women, she had a fascination for purses. She has always loved light houses and collected many throughout the years. In February, her family took her to South Carolina, so that she could see the ocean and a light house. Although she was afraid to climb to the top of the lighthouse, just seeing one meant the world to her. Darlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2009 in Myetta Missionary Baptist Church. Cremation was under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home Memorial donations may be made to a fund established to assist the family and left at the funeral home.
