Darrell Sanford Crainshaw, age 83, passed away peacefully, with his wife and family at his side, on August 25, 2024 at Lake Regional Hospital after a three week battle with COVID.
Darrell was born March 16, 1941 in Climax Springs, Missouri, the son of Less and Ellen (Folsom) Crainshaw. He grew up in the Climax Springs area. When they were both 18 years old, Darrell married the love of his life, Doris Moulder. They were married just short of 65 years. Through their married life, they raised two children, a son, Ronald, and a daughter, Sandra.
After they were married, Darrell worked for Ford Motor Company for a short time, but returned to the Climax Springs area where he was a Building Contractor. He built many houses around the Lake of the Ozarks area. He was in the construction industry for 60 years, In 1979, Darrell and Doris started a Lumber and Hardware business, Crainshaw Supply, where he went to work every day until the time he came down with COVID. Darrell also built the Central Bank of Climax Springs when the bank moved from Old Town Climax to it’s new location on Highway 7. He also built the 7 Express Convenience Store in 2008. Darrell and Doris also donated the land for the Climax Springs Library.
Darrell, along with his wife, Doris and their children, built all the homes they lived in. Darrell loved going to Canada every September to go fishing for Walleye and hunting for Grouse. Darrell and Doris went to Canada for 30 years, taking their motorhome. Darrell also liked to go to Yuma, Arizona to spend time in the winter. He loved traveling and camping in the motorhome. Darrell loved his grandchildren, who he liked to tease and take for rides on the four wheeler.
Darrell was proceeded in death by his parents, Less and Ellen Crainshaw; two sisters, Annalois Crainshaw and Helen Sue Hammund; and one niece, Rhonda Jo Patton.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Doris; son Ronald and wife Michelle; Daughter Sandra and husband Steve; grandchildren Brandon and wife Anealin, Trevor, Meagan and husband Jared, and Taylor and husband Landon; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Marah, and Wyatt; one step grandson, Jayce; one niece, three nephews, many other relatives and many friends. Darrell will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Service will be held at Allee-Holman Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri beginning at 12:00 with a Visitation beginning at 11:00. A Graveside service will follow at Climax Springs Cemetery in Climax Springs, Missouri.
Memorial Donations for Darrel Crainshaw may be made to Climax Springs Cemetery and left at the Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.
