David 'Dave' Ruiz

Dave Ruiz David Lee Ruiz, son of Prundencio A. and Lottie V. Rable Ruiz, was born, May 1, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life, Monday, November 3, 2014, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty years, six months and two days. He was united in marriage to Rita G. Hannah and to this union six children were born. Together they shared thirty-eight years of marriage before her passing in April of 1993. On June 14, 1995 in St. Louis, Missouri, he married Ellen Durfee. They were happily married for the past nineteen years. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Ruiz of Camdenton, Missouri; his children, David Ruiz and wife Mary of St. Peters, Missouri, Christopher Ruiz and wife Linda of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Rhonda Ruiz of St. Charles, Missouri, Gloria Mince and husband Rich of Moscow Mills, Missouri, Mona Lavely and husband Steve of O'Fallon, Missouri and John Ruiz and wife Alison of Florissant, Missouri; step-children, Andrea Scism and Paul Horvath and wife Debbie all of Chicago, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends. Dave was raised in St. Louis graduated from high school there. After his marriage, he attended architecture school. He was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country. After being honorably discharged, he returned to St. Louis and began a career in architecture. He later moved to St. Charles and retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1999. Dave made a profession of faith and was a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene. In his spare time, he enjoyed volunteering for the Camden County Museum and Lake Regional Hospital. He was Past President of Mended Hearts and was formerly a member of the Solid Fifties Club in St. Louis. He enjoyed dancing, golf and working around the house. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2014 in New Life Church of the Nazarene under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Thursday in the church. Burial with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis. Memorial donations may be made to New Life Church of the Nazarene and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
