David Hitsman

DAVID HITSMAN David Whitmore Hitsman, son of Maurice and Thelma Whitmore Hitsman, was born, October 8, 1936 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He departed this life, Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-three, with his wife and daughters by his side. On July 12, 1991 in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Joyce Tillman and together they shared nearly twenty years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Dorothy Hitsman, Carol Dunn and Jeanne Marie Stables. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hitsman; four daughters, Kerri Alcaraz and husband Terry of San Diego, California, Teresa Robinson and husband Eric of Chula Vista, California, Deborah Knight and husband James of San Antonio, Texas and Lisa Goehring and husband John of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren, Geramy Dickerson, Shaun and Paul Robinson, Anthony and Zachary Knight, Kayla and Andrew Goehring, 2 great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Dominic Knight: two sisters, Maurece Stites of Laguna, California and Peggy Harlan of Arroyo Grande, California, as well many nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. David was raised in Minnesota and as a young boy moved to Kansas. While serving in the Navy he transferred to California where he lived for over thirty years and served as a Federal Fire Fighter. He has called Missouri home for the past twenty-four years and contributed a wealth of knowledge and experience as an employee of the Department of Natural Resources for over 15 years and was honored as state employee of the year in 2004. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time on his farm and loved animals. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Tuesday, June 15, 2010 11:00 a.m., on the family farm in Camdenton. Online condolences may be made at www.alleeholmanhowe.com.
