David William Douglas

David William Douglas, son of William Quinton and Bessielee Cobb, was born August 15th, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life, Monday, January 18th, 2021 in Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of 83. David is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Roger Allen Douglas (brother) and Michelle Renee’ Kelley (sister), Son in Law – Steve Porter, and Brother-in-Law – James Blankenship. David is survived by his three kids, Dean Douglas (wife, Dana) of Columbia, MO., Terry Lynn Porter of Foley, MO., Wayne Douglas (wife, Midori) of Santa Maria, CA., and two sisters, Donna Hoffman (husband, Jim) of Camdenton, MO., and Mary Ann Blankenship of St. Charles, MO; and one sister-in-law, Nancy Douglas of Camdenton, MO. David is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. David graduated from Arcadia High School in Arcadia Valley, MO. Upon graduation David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps – he served for several years before being Honorably Discharged. After being discharged David returned to St. Louis, where he entered the Machinist Union and began working at The Boeing Company (formerly known as McDonald-Douglas) before continuing his career in Kent, WA. After retirement, David moved to the Lake Ozark area where he remained for the rest of his life. David enjoyed his time bird hunting and collecting photographs with the numerous cameras he owned. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading The Bible and about politics too. On the weekends you could find David at the local auction or a Gun Show. Spending time with family was very important to David, as he grew up taking care of his mother and younger siblings after the passing of his father – David was just 13 years old at the time of his father’s death. David enjoyed traveling to Pilot Knob, MO., and Laverne, OK where he was able to visit with many aunts, uncles, siblings, nieces, and nephews. However, David was happiest in the moments he was surrounded by family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. David was a loving father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will forever treasure the many memories he has created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
