Donald Paul Danuser, son of John E. and Dorothy V. (Hanks) Danuser, was born January 6, 1944 in Linn Creek, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, February 20, 2023 in his home at the age of seventy-nine years, one month and fourteen days.
In 1963, Donald Paul was united in marriage to Sarah Kathy Edwards and to this union four children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Melissa Beck; two brothers, Warren Dale Keeney and John Danuser; and three sisters, Anna Burkett, Delores Danuser and Edna Spautz.
Donald Paul is survived by his children, Craig Danuser and wife Julie of Montreal, Missouri, Shawn Danuser and wife Lori, of Montreal, Missouri, and Kassy Patterson and husband Troy, of Mayflower, Arkansas; his life partner, Roxanne Davis; the mother of his children Sarah Kathy Danuser; his grandchildren, Bailey Danuser, David Sanford, Justin Sanford, Travis Sanford, Tyler Danuser, Wyatt Danuser, Brandon Beck, Derek Beck, Mya Danuser, Kayden Patterson, Kenzie Patterson, Lilly Kubalek, Matthew Kubalek, and Gus Kubalek; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Clara Dugan, Juanita Frederick, Patti Puglisi and husband Carmen, George Danuser and wife Joyce, and Rita Tyre; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
Donald was born and raised in Linn Creek and moved to Kansas City, Missouri as a young man to work for General Motors Corporation. He would later move back home and started a career in excavation. Donald Paul owned and operated D&S Excavating for many years. In the early 1980’s he purchased Linn Creek Metal Products.
In 1989, Donald Paul started Whitetail Trophy Hunt. The first hunt had 120 hunters. In 2023, Whitetail Trophy Hunt will be celebrating its 35th Anniversary and boasts an impressive 220 hunters annually. The success of the hunt was the fruit of the hard work Donald Paul and his family poured into it. Countless years spent working trade shows on the East Coast has brought many hunters from the Eastern United States with hopes of tagging the trophy buck of their dreams. With the help of his family, Whitetail has continued to sell out annually and is on pace to be sold out for many years to come. Whitetail Trophy Hunt, with the help of the successful hunters, has been able to donate more than 200,000 pounds of deer meat to many local charities throughout the years. Donald Paul’s Legacy will continue through the Hunt.
Donald Paul was also a farmer, and enjoyed tending to his cattle. He found his peace sitting in a field while his cattle grazed the land.
He was saved at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
In his spare time, Donald Paul could be found hunting and fishing. He was a very active member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and attended the Annual Conventions until he was no longer able to do so.
He cherished the time spent with his family and his grandchildren were the light of his world. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him.
Donald Paul was a loving father, grandfather, brother, partner and uncle. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends.
