Donna Rae Hasso, daughter of George and Alberta (David) Schwartztrauber, was born March 29, 1944 in West Des Moines, Iowa. She departed this life Monday, November 13, 2023 in Lake Regional Hospital at the age of seventy-nine years, seven months, and fifteen days.
On June 30, 1960, Donna was united in marriage to John Hasso and to this union three children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Roy, Jeff, Joe, and Jim Schwartztrauber and one sister, Jeri Kirby.
Donna is survived by her husband, John Hasso, of the home; her children, Lori Hughes and husband Troy of Springfield, Missouri, Leanna Stoeckel and husband Don, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Shaun Hasso and wife Teanna of Des Moines, Iowa; her grandchildren, Justin Booth and wife Krista, Stacey Booth, Kimberly Booth, Stephanie Stoeckel, Krista Stoeckel, and Stacia Stoeckel; her great-grandchildren, Peli Smith, Kayliana Newlon, Chris Newlon, Aaliyah Newlon, Sophia Newlon, Kamaya Ratliff, Jeramiah Ratliff, Devin Rogers, Logan Rogers, Hope Rogers and Mason Rogers; two brothers, Michael and Charles Pagel; and two sisters, Linda Carlene Soper and Roxanne Ungry; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Donna grew up in West Des Moines and moved to Des Moines following her marriage to John. She spent her younger years as a homemaker and lovingly raised her children. Donna later moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa where she worked in Food Service at Oskaloosa Public School Systems. She later started her career as a bank teller. She and John moved to the Eldon, Missouri area in 2004. Donna continued to work as a Teller at First National Bank until her retirement in 2011.
In her spare time, Donna enjoyed sewing, quilting, and doing various crafts. She was known for her Christmas Stockings and made sure that all of her grandchildren and countless others had a stocking to cherish. She also loved to play golf and travel and spent many winters in South Texas.
Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and many accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
Local Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday, November 16, 2023 in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 4-7:00 pm in the Merle Hay Funeral Home at 4400 Merle Hay Rd. Des Moines, Iowa 50310.
A second funeral service and burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in the Merle Hay Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association through Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home and may be mailed to the funeral home at 15 Clint Ave, Camdenton, MO 65020.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
