DOROTHY S. HARAST Dorothy S. Harast, daughter of Klem and Stella Proznov Stukalo, was born October 5, 1907 in Krasnov, Ukraine on the Bug River South of Kiev. She departed this life, Saturday, February 24, 2007 at her residence in Carrollton, Texas, at the age of ninety-nine years, four months and nineteen days. On June 16, 1926, she was united in marriage to Joseph Harast and to this union two children were born. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1990 after sixty-four years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include her sons, John Harast and wife Niki of Carrollton, Texas and Donald Harast of Carrollton, Texas; two grandchildren, Michelene Latoria and husband Bill of Long Grove, Illinois, Christopher Harast and friend Tracy of Des Plains, Illinois; one great-grandson Cory Harast of Tucson, Arizona. Dorothy moved to the United States in 1913 and became a citizen by an Act of Congress in 1919. After her first year of high school her parents had her quit school and go to work. She became employed with Western Electric in Illinois. Joseph and Dorothy made their home in Broadview, Illinois where Joseph worked as a chemical technician for Argonne National Labs before retiring to the Lake of the Ozarks where they made their home in Sunny Slope in April of 1970. When Dorothy was 88 years of age she went back to school to get her GED and graduated with her diploma at the age of 89. Dorothy was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Camdenton. Dorothy was a charter member of Ozark Brush and Palatte Club. She had painted many beautiful pictures that are still hanging in local homes. She loved to play bridge and she never did trump her partner's ace. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton, Missouri with Monsignor Raphael Keys officiating.
