DR. RICHARD ALBERT “RICH” BINDER Dr. Richard Albert Binder, son of Albert H and Lucille Rene Bucholtz Binder, was born, January 2, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life, Friday, January 2, 2015, in Windsor Estates Care Center, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of eighty-four years. On August 14, 1954 in Paducah, Kentucky he was united in marriage to Bettye Jo Kennedy and to this union two sons were born. Together they shared sixty years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Bettye Jo Binder of Camdenton, Missouri; two sons, David Bryan Binder of Lake Ozark, Missouri and Michael Kennedy Binder and wife Beth of Springfield, Missouri; two granddaughters, Leslie Lynn Binder of Nixa, Missouri and Kirsten Caye Binder of Springfield, Missouri; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Karen Marvin of Paducah, Kentucky and a host of other relatives and many friends. Rich was raised in St. Louis where he graduated from Mehlville High School in the class of 1948. He then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia and received a B.S. in Agriculture and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He was employed at Heigler Animal Hospital for one year. He then established and opened Dr. Binder’s Small Animal Hospital on Telegraph Road in St. Louis in July of 1957. He retired from his practice in 1997 and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. Rich made a profession of faith and was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Laurie, Missouri. He was also a member of the Gravois Kiwanis, the Elks Lodge where he worked with the D.A.R.E. program and the Small Animal Veterinarian Association. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing and hunting. He was talented at training pointer hunting dogs. Many sought his advice and expertise in training dogs and quail hunting. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Hope Lutheran Church and left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.alleeholmanhowe.com.
