Dwight Allen Rakes

Dwight Allen Rakes, son of the late Lester Dwight & Mildred “Polly” (Hiskey) Rakes, was born on July 4, 1950 and departed this life on July 29, 2020. At the time of his passing he was 70 years and 25 days of age. Dwight was born and raised in Iowa where he attended school until his freshman year when he moved to Camdenton, Missouri and graduated from Camdenton High School. On January 23, 1971 in the First Baptist Church of Camdenton he was united in marriage to Connie Lea Bowles and to this union two children were born. Together they shared forty-six years of marriage. Dwight was known to be many things, humble, giving, a jokester and to those who played pool with him he known as “MO-Slim”. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening and watching WWE Wrestling. Dwight was preceded in passing by his loving wife, Connie Rakes; his parents; and two sisters, Joyce Vickroy and Carol Lawler. He is survived by his two children, Allen & wife Shonna Rakes of Linn Creek, Missouri and LeAnn Selander & Bobby Lindner of Camdenton, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jillian Selander, Brady Lindner, Addison Selander, Momo “Riley” Selander, Fayth Rakes and Emma Rakes; sister-in-law, Sharon Dickerson; and brother-in-law, Carl Bowles. He also leaves behind several friends and other family members who will truly miss him.
