E. Dwain Pitts

E. Dwain Pitts, son of Elmer and Lela Clark Pitts, was born, June 7, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life, September 24, 2017, in his home, at the age of eighty five years, three months and seventeen days. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, Maxine Eickleberger, Nadine Armstrong, Lorraine Burger, Jerry Pitts, and Doris Hydenman. He is survived by his children, Laurie Brantley and husband Larry of Williamsburg, Virginia; Dan Belfield and wife Inna of Wellsville, Kansas; Jon Belfield and wife Fonda of Gardner, Kansas; Joseph Pitts of Phoenix, Arizona; David Pitts and wife Ashley of Camdenton, Missouri; and Michael Pitts of Scottsdale, Arizona; eleven grandkids and five great grandkids; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Dwain was raised in the Kansas City, Missouri area and spent most of his life there until moving to the lake area two years ago. Dwain made a profession of faith and was a pastor of Olivet Baptist Church in Olathe, Kansas for many years until he retired. After he had retired from preaching he started to work in sales in the Kansas City area where he had won many awards. After he had retired from sales he then moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to fully retire. In his spare time Dwain liked to listen and play music, read books and when he wasn’t reading he enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals every chance he got. He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017, in West Point Cemetery, Amsterdam, Missouri. Military honors will be at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in West Point Cemetery, Amsterdam, Missouri. Online condolences may be made at www.alleeholmanhowe.com.
