Charles Edward “Ed” Snelling, son of Loyd and Genevieve (Percival) Snelling was born January 6, 1947 in Linn Creek, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, January 19, 2024 in his home, at the age of seventy-seven years and thirteen days.
On November 21, 2004, Ed was united in marriage to Mary Martin and together they have shared the last 19 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ron Snelling; and the mother of his children, Fanchon Snelling.
Ed is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; two sons, Kyle Snelling and wife Jessica, of Camdenton, Missouri and Kevin Snelling and wife Angelia, of Osage Beach, Missouri; a step-son, Tonka Ponder and wife Carolynn of Preston, Missouri; his grandchildren, Taylor, Griffin, Kennedy and Jordyn Snelling, Danuel Denny and wife Courtney, Jacob Ponder, Megan Ponder and Madison Ponder; a host of other relatives and many friends.
Ed was born and raised in the Linn Creek area and was a graduate of Camdenton High School. He started his career in Masonry at an early age and in 1968 he founded Snelling Masonry and laid rock and brick throughout the lake area. His two sons took over the business and continue to operate it.
Ed was a member of Linn Creek Baptist Church.
Ed was an avid bass fisherman and had won many bass tournaments throughout the years. He also enjoyed hunting and trapshooting in his younger years. He was a skilled artist and created many beautiful paintings. He also enjoyed drinking coffee, listening to the radio, and riding his lawn mower around his property.
Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton.
