Roy Edward “Eddie” Whitworth, son of Roy Zane and Hazel Louise (Ray) Whitworth, was born October 25, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of seventy-five years, two months and eight days.
On November 4, 1978, at High Street Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Missouri, Eddie was united in marriage to Arlene Belle Kreienheder and together they shared forty-six years.
Eddie was preceded in death by a daughter, Brooke Whitworth; a son, Kevin Whitworth; his parents; and his brother, Kenny Whitworth.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene, of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Ruehter and husband Dwayne of Linn Creek, Missouri and Brittany Lowary and husband Jim, of Montreal, Missouri; a son, Luke Hahn and wife Lisa of Hawk Point, Missouri; his grandchildren, Lance and Tonya Rothenberger, Jenna and Ashley Hahn and Cora Lowary; two sisters, Lisa VanHook of Camdenton, Missouri and Karen Dobbins of Laurie, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Barb Whitworth of Macks Creek, Missouri; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many other family and dear friends.
Eddie grew up in the Camdenton area and was a graduate of Camdenton High School in the Class of 1967. He attended SMSU and Lincoln College and where he worked to attain his degree to pursue his career as a professional surveyor. Eddie worked in the area as a Professional Land Surveyor for many years and co-owned Snelling, Whitworth and Hasty until being elected as Camden County Assessor, a position he held for eighteen years until his retirement.
Eddie had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of First Baptist Church of Camdenton.
He was a member of the Camdenton Rotary, Missouri Surveyor’s Association and Missouri Assessor’s Association, and numerous other boards and organizations throughout his lifetime.
Eddie was deeply involved in his children’s sports while they were growing up and spent countless hours coaching youth baseball, softball and basketball teams throughout the years.
He was extremely proud of his family and cherished every moment spent with them. He also loved to farm and took great pride working on the family farm for most of his life.
Eddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, January 10, 2025 at First Baptist Church, Camdenton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service Friday in the church.
Private Burial will be held at a later date.
