Edna Jackson

EDNA JACKSON Edna Earleen Jackson, daughter of Andrew Jackson and Ollie May Flannigan Lain, was born, February 27, 1919 in Barnumton, Missouri. She departed this life, Friday, October 14, 2011, in Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years, seven months and seventeen days. On April 4, 1938 in Lebanon, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Otos Homer Jackson and to this union four children were born. Together they shared fifty-three years of marriage before his passing on January 10, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three great-grandchildren; five sisters and three brothers. Survivors include four children, James O. Jackson of Camdenton, Missouri, Kenneth L. Jackson and wife Carolyn of Chillicothe, Texas, C. Kay Bradley and husband Stanton of Camdenton, Missouri and Karon Watts and husband Mark of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Edna was raised in the Barnumton area and attended grade school there. The family was unable to send her to high school, so she helped around the family place until she and Otos were married. She spent the remainder of her life in various places in Camden County. She worked as a waitress at several restaurants in the area including the Harwood Hotel and The Night Hawk. She and Otos were co-owners of Messenger Resort. They went on to establish Jackson Bait and Tackle and operated it for over forty years. Edna made a profession of faith and was a member of Community Christian Church in Camdenton. She was a former member of the Eastern Star in Camdenton. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and embroidery and made many beautiful items throughout the years. She was an excellent cook and always enjoyed feeding the family. Most of all, her grandchildren were the apples of her eye. She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. She touched many lives during her time here and her memory will linger on in the hearts of many. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2011 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m., Monday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to National Parkinson Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
