EDWARD KAAN Edward Philip Kaan, son of Adolph and Julia Orvacik Kaan, was born, April 25, 1928 in Park Falls, Wisconsin. He departed this life, Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in Windsor Estates, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of eighty years, four months and twenty-three days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marie Kaan; a sister, Margie Tallent and five brothers, Steve, John, Joe and Frank, and an infant brother also named Ed Kaan. Survivors include his children, Helen Gregory of Oakland, California, Ralph Kaan of San Francisco, California, Daniel Kaan of Anchorage, Alaska and Andrew Kaan and wife Leigh Ann of DeKalb, Texas; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Gregory, Leah Gregory, Thomas Kaan and Andrew Kaan, Jr.; a brother, Jim Kaan of Camdenton, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ed was raised in Wisconsin and attended school there. He served his country proudly in the United State Air Force and was honorably discharged. He then moved to San Francisco, California where he lived the majority of his life. He worked as a garageman for Hertz Car Rental and retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2003. He was baptized into the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Anthony's Church in San Francisco, California. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and a life long member of the Teamsters. In spare time he enjoyed photography, gun and coin collecting, and traveling to visit his family. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Edward was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2008 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Monsignor Raphael Keyes officiating. Private burial will be in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, California. No formal visitation will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
