EDWARD JOHNSON LOWTHER Edward Johnson Lowther, son of Edward George and Nona Patricia Johnson Lowther, was born October 28, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He departed this life Wednesday, February 11, 2009, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-four years, three months, and fourteen days. Edward was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Katelyn Leigh Grissum. He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Elizabeth Lowther Grissum and her husband Gary of Ft. Worth, Texas; a son, Ed Lowther and his wife Laurie of Linn Creek, Missouri; five grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Grissum, Christopher Thomas Grissum, Edward Alexander Lowther, Hannah Lynn Lowther, and Ainsley Grace Lowther; a sister Nona J. Lowther Fowler and her husband Charles of Leawood, Kansas; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Edward was born in Ohio and grew up in Webster Groves and was a graduate of Webster Groves High School. He graduated from the University of Missouri where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, serving as the Vice President Chapter advisor. After graduating from college, Edward joined the United States Army where he served his country faithfully as a Second Lieutenant. Edward was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of the Webster Grove Presbyterian Church. Edward was very active in his community, and took part in many organizations. He helped organize and build the YMCA in Webster Grove, and was a member of the Optimist Club, the Elks Club, the Jefferson Club at the University of Missouri, and was a 32nd Degree Freemason. He also remained active in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and was a proud supporter of the University of Missouri Football Program. In his spare time, Edward enjoyed fishing and golfing as well as attending various sporting events at the University of Missouri. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Edward was a loving father, grandfather, and brother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his many accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2009 in Osage Hills Baptist Church, Osage Beach, Missouri. Memorial donations made be made to the Lawrence Humane Society in Lawrence, Kansas. Cremation was under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
