Eleanor “Ellie” Ann Betta, daughter of Theodore J. and Mildred McMonigle Hart Ballhausen, was born October 8, 1930 in East St. Louis, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, March 11, 2021 in Arrowhead Senior Living, at the age of ninety years, five months, and three days. On October 17, 1953, Eleanor was united in marriage to James Charles Betta and to this union three children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Charles Betta; a son Gian Carlo Betta, and a sister, Marilyn J. Mottin. She is survived by two sons, James C. Betta and wife Amy and Giancarlo V. Betta and wife Leea; a sister, Teddi Steck and husband Greg; four grandchildren, Brogun, Ireland, Giancarlo II and Marina; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Jim and Eleanor spent nearly sixteen years living in Panama; Bogota, Colombia; and Caracas, Venezuela. Eleanor worked for the Judge Advocate General’s office in the Canal Zone as well as the Agency for Intel Development in Bogota, Colombia. In January 1981, Eleanor and her sons purchased the Seascape Resort. Together they owned and operated the resort until selling it in January of 2005. Eleanor was a member of Newcomers/Longtimers for many years. She was also a member of the Chamber Active Volunteers, Ozark Jazz Society, the Chamber of Commerce, and served as a volunteer with the Lake Regional Auxiliary. In her spare time, Eleanor enjoyed travelling and playing bridge. Eleanor was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and many accomplishments, and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton, Missouri. A second Funeral Mass and burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021 in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:30 until time of service Saturday in the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Dogwood Animal Shelter and may be mailed to the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home at 15 Clint Avenue, Camdenton, Missouri 65020. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
