Ernie Shepherd, son of the late Everett & Melba Shepherd of Lonedale, MO and Vera (Mooney) Steelman & Bill Steelman of Salem MO, was born on February 23, 1952 and departed this life in home and surrounded by family on September 16, 2022. At the time of his passing, he was seventy years, six months and twenty-four days of age.
He was preceded in death by parents; first wife of twenty-eight years, Eunice Cramer; second wife, Brenda Alexander; son, Johnathan Paul Shepherd; and step-daughter, Lindsey Ann Clemons;one nephew John Brewer; and niece Anastacia Brown.
He is survived by his two children with Eunice, Adriell & wife Jessica Shepherd and Felicia Wright and fiancé Earl Buck; six grandchildren, Kailey Shepherd, Adrionna Shepherd, Anaya Shepherd, Brionna Wright, Aleeah Wright and Braydon Buck; five step-children though marriage with Brenda, Tommy Aholt, Stephanie & husband Billy DeCoster, Timmy Aholt, Alexis & husband Jeremy Gourley and Coty Garris & Fiancé Courtney Hellmann;. He also leaves behind several step-grandchildren(30+), many friends and other family members who will all truly miss him.
Ernie was born in St. Louis and raised in Salem, Missouri, later graduating from Salem High School. Following his high school graduation, he joined the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for four years. Shortly after he returned home from the service, he was united in marriage to Eunice Sutton on July 28, 1973, sharing twenty-eight of years of marriage and to this union three children were born. Throughout those 28 years of marriage they shared many of great memories with their family and friends, Ernie and Eunice opened several restaurants together, became over the road truck drivers, and ran a successful landscaping business that brought their family to the Lake of the Ozarks. Ernie ended his career as an operator for APAC Rock Quarries. Later in life, he was united in marriage to Brenda Alexander Garris on March 25, 2017, sharing five years of marriage and who he mourned for until his passing. Ernie and Brenda were 2 peas in a pod. The amount of love they had for each other could not be measured. They enjoyed going to concerts and dancing the night away.
In his spare time, he enjoyed music,dancing, fishing, being on the Current River, spending time with his grandchildren, watching & helping Adriell race his dirt cars, he was a proud Marijuana cultivator and above all, he enjoyed drinking his beer and just having a good time with others.
He was a loving and a caring father, grandfather, husband, neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. A Celebration of Life is being held Ha Ha Tonka Spring on September 24 from starting at 11am with food being served around 12pm. The Family will be having a Fish Fry in his honor and asks that you come enjoy some good food, drinks, and share your “Ernie Freaking Shepherd” stories. If possible please bring a side dish or dessert to share but by no means required. In lieu of flowers the family asks if you would bring cards/ donations to the celebration or if you are unable to attend send cards, monetary donations or prayers directly the family or Stella's Wish Foundation.
