Everett 'Jack' Lewis

JACK LEWIS Everett R. "Jack" Lewis, son of William Wade and Lucille Thelma Gilmore Lewis, was born, August 21, 1929 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He departed this life, Friday, August 17, 2012, in his home, Roach, Missouri at the age of eighty-two years, eleven months and twenty-seven days. On September 1, 1972 in Miami, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Wilma Colleen Collings. Together they shared thirty-nine years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert I. Lewis, John C. Lewis and Mike Gilmore; a sister, Harriet A. Lewis and a grandson, Jacob L. Lewis. Survivors include his wife, W. Colleen Lewis of the home; three children, Mark W. Lewis and wife Jean and Pamela R. Keeler and husband Jack all of Bothell, Washington and Cody Lewis and wife Michelle of Lincoln, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Tawnya R. Gray, Shane T. Smith, J.D. Keeler, Tice W. Lewis and Lauren C. Schram; three great-grandchildren, Xander Drax Gray, Cole Jaxon Grey and Abigale Faith Schram; a brother, William Bradley Lewis of Texas; four sisters, Betsy Lewis-Draheim of Milford, Michigan, Lola Burgess and husband David of Lawson, Missouri, Charlene Smith and husband Edward of Excelsior Springs, Missouri and Mary Kessler and husband Ray of Montrose, Colorado and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jack was raised in St. Joseph, Missouri and attended Benton High School. He served his country proudly in the Army/Air Force during World War II. After being honorably discharged as a Sergeant, he made his home in Idaho. He was an excavating contractor, residential home developer and builder and owner of Jack Lewis Construction. He was an instructor for the Heavy Equipment School in Weiser, Idaho for many years. He moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in June of 2006. Jack made a profession of faith and was a member of Community Christian Church, Camdenton. He was formerly a member of Weiser Christian Church, Weiser, Idaho and Calvary Baptist Church in Blue Springs, Missouri. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, Greater Kansas City Home Builders Association and the Disabled American Veterans. Jack had a love of country and bluegrass music. He had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing in church. He was heavily involved in the Old Time Fiddler's Contest in Weiser, Idaho. He played guitar and taught many others to play as well. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
