FLOYD THORNTON Floyd Allen Thornton, son of Floyd Allen and Martha Mae Brown Thornton, was born March 15, 1931 in Clarksville, Arkansas. He departed this life Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the Golden Living Care Center, Jefferson City, Missouri at the age of seventy-nine years, one month, and nine days. On March 20, 1949, Floyd was united in marriage to Joyce Mae Bean and to this union four children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce on November 6, 1997; a daughter, Donna Sue Gray; one brother, Milford Thornton and one sister, Rosemary Fiscus. He survived by his children, Debbie Joyce Thornton of Camdenton, Missouri; Linda Diane Mirot and husband Max of Fon du Lac, Wisconsin; Keith Allen Thornton of Gravois Mills, Missouri; grandchildren, Matt Thomas and wife Reesa, Tricia Gray, Terra Gray, Amber Ford and husband Greg, Keith Allen Thornton and wife Michelle and Adam Thornton and wife Tricia; his great-grandchildren, Caenen, Jaxon, and Hunter; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Floyd was born in Arkansas and spent his younger years in the Clarksville area. After marrying Joyce, they made their home in the Kansas City area where he owned and operated a car dealership as well as an auto body repair shop. Floyd and his family moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in the mid 1970's. While living in the Lake area, Floyd owned and operated a local excavating business, FA&JM Enterprises, which he operated until his retirement. He made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Laurie, Missouri. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and was an active Shriner. Floyd loved the lake life especially boating. He enjoyed Shriner activities, where he was able to participate in many parades. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Floyd was a loving father and grandfather and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Private burial will be at a later date in Kidwell-Garber Cemetery, Laurie, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the family and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
