Fred L. Spawn

Fred Spawn Fred Lee Spawn, son of Robert R. and Grace J. Cramer Spawn, was born, October 1, 1924 in Amoret, Missouri. He departed this life, Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in Medicalodges-Nevada, Nevada, Missouri at the age of ninety-three years, one month and thirteen days. He was united in marriage to Betty J. Kemmiser for twenty years until her passing. He was preceded in death by his loving wife; his parents; his step-daughter, Judy Massy and his siblings, Arthur F. Spawn, Jackie G. Spawn, Mildred E. Loth, Edna I. Ramage and Glen E. Spawn Fred is survived by his daughter, Sheila Scott of Indianapolis, Indiana; one grandson, Dennis Day, his step-children, Steve Lee and wife Peggy of Camdenton, Missouri, John Lee and wife Cathy of the state of Indiana, Barbara Shaffer of the state of Florida, and Cindy Cherry of Noblesville, Indiana; twelve grandchildren from his five step-children; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Georgia N. DeVries and husband Earl of Blue Springs, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Robert W. Loth and wife Michele, Debbie LeFevre, Jim D. Ramage, Sharon A. Roe and husband Tom and David DeVries as well as a of other relatives and many friends. Fred lived in the Amoret, Missouri and Rich Hill, Missouri area until they moved to Stolesbury, Missouri in 1940. At a young age, he hitchhiked to Texas and worked for the carnival. He would work any odd job to live. He was called to service in July, 1943 and served our country till February, 1946. Fred was a member of Seven Day Adventist Church in Branch, Missouri. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing bingo and card games. He had two favorite pastimes one being bowling which he had trophies for and the other being horseshoes in which he was a national horseshoe champion in the state of Indiana and has several trophies. He was a fan of the Connecticut Women’s Basketball team. He loved getting out in the woods and hunting. He also played Santa Clause for ten years during the 80’s at Main Street Opry and also at Tan-Tar-A Resort. Georgia, his sister, has memories of Fred being kind of ornery. One instance she remembers is when he buried his two sister’s dolls that they had just gotten for Christmas. She always knew when he was up to something when he would get that look in his eyes. The thing she is going to miss the most is the phone calls she would receive from Fred on her birthday. They didn’t miss calling each other on their birthdays. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 20, 2017, in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
