FRED McADAMS Fredrick Clyde McAdams, son of Julius "Bus" Milford and Pearl Madison McAdams, was born, December 1, 1940 in Hampton, Iowa. He departed this life, Saturday, January 5, 2013, in his home, Linn Creek, Missouri at the age of seventy-two years, one month and four days. On June 9, 1963, he was united in marriage to Vivian Bartleson and to this union two daughters were born. Together they shared almost fifty years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Vivian McAdams of Linn Creek, Missouri; two daughters, Amy Voltmer and husband Chuck of Columbia, Missouri and Ann Coble and husband David of Camdenton, Missouri; two grandchildren, Asher Voltmer and Sophia Voltmer; a brother, Nile McAdams and wife Tara of Stillwater, Minnesota and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and many friends. Fred was raised in Iowa and was a graduate of Dows High School in the class of 1958. He attended Waldorf College and later started working for Winnebago Industries. He moved to Des Moines, Iowa and later to Columbus, Ohio where he worked as a traveling clothing salesman for several years. In 1976 the family moved back to Des Moines, Iowa to be closer to family. It was there that he changed careers and became a builder. He moved to Missouri in 1984 and owned and operated Fred McAdams Builder and McAdams Supply. Fred made a profession of faith and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he served as President of the Church Council. He had a special gift when it came to gardening and devoted as much time as possible working in his garden and was a member of the Master Gardeners Club. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends in the Coffee Club at Tonka Hills Restaurant. He was proud driving around in his 1950 Chevrolet truck and he drove stock cars for a few years. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to the races, listening to the Gaither's, boating and traveling. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Smile Train and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
