Freda Cumper

FREDA CUMPER Freda Avis Cumper, daughter of D. Boone and Mary A. Osborn, was born January 20, 1921 in Macks Creek, Missouri. She departed this life, Thursday, March 10, 2011 in Lees Summit, Missouri. On October 18, 1941 in Nevada, Missouri, she was united in marriage to James Willard Cumper. To this union three children were born, Martha Lynn "Marty", James Willard Jr. "Jim" and Freda Elizabeth "Becky". Together they shared forty-seven years of marriage before his passing on December 3, 1988. Freda was also preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters. Freda is survived by her daughter Marty Wood of Lees Summit, Missouri; a son Jim Cumper and his wife Tish of Rolla, Missouri; a daughter, Becky Smith and her husband Kenny of Lees Summit, Missouri; ten granddaughters; four grandsons; nine great grandsons; seven great granddaughters; three great-great grandsons; three great-great granddaughters and a host of other relatives and many friends.. She graduated from Macks Creek High School as the Salutatorian of the Class of 1939 and lettered in Softball and Basketball. Freda spent over seventy of her ninety years living in Camden County. She and Willard owned and operated Clean Cleaners in Independence and Camdenton, Missouri. Freda was a fifty year member of the First Baptist Church in Camdenton, and a fifty year member of the Order of Eastern Star where she was Worthy Matron numerous times. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a caring neighbor and friend. She was a very giving and caring woman who will be greatly missed by her family, friends and anyone who knew her. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
