Gary A. West

Gary Austin West was born September 25, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri to his loving parents, Nila and Claude West. Gary passed away July 27, 2018. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, other family and friends and most recently his youngest son, Levi. Gary married his high school sweetheart Kathy in 1970 and together they have been blessed with three children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Gary moved his young family to the lake area in 1975 and has remained a lake area resident since. Gary loved the area and worked for several businesses before starting his own in 1980. Due to health issues, Gary retired from the workforce and had a heart transplant in 1992. Over the years Gary endured over twenty-three surgeries and numerous other procedures including a kidney transplant in 2013, but he did so with courage, strength of character, and always with profound thanks and gratitude for that precious second chance of life. That precious gift gave Gary the gift of knowing and loving his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and them to come and know and love Gary. That wonderful gift, gave us all the bounty of having Gary in our lives for another twenty-eight years. Gary will be cremated under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home with a “Celebration of Life” service to held at Tan Tar A Resort, Osage Beach, Missouri at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018.
