George 'Billy' Cowen Ii

GEORGE WILLIAM "BILLY" COWEN II George William "Billy" Cowen II, son of George William Cowen and Brenda Kay Pendergrass, was born May 28, 1985 in Columbia, Missouri. He departed this life, Saturday, December 29, 2007, at University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri at the age of twenty-two years seven months and one day. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clyde Pendergrass, grandparents, Delbert and Bonnie Cowen, four uncles Charles Cowen, Jack, RB and Kenneth Pendergrass, and several cousins and a niece. Survivors include his father, George William Cowen and his mother, Brenda Pendergrass both of Lake Ozark, Missouri; his sister, Kayla Cowen of Kaiser, Missouri; two half-sisters, Vera Byler of Linn Creek, Missouri and Teresa Cowen of Camdenton, Missouri; numerous uncles, aunt, cousins, nephews and a niece. Billy was employed at Pauls Supermarket of Lake Ozark. He was thought highly of and very well liked. He enjoyed teasing co-workers, who were always on the look-out waiting for him to jump out at them and yell "hey" or "boo". Billy was a hard worker who did his job competently. He was always lending a hand to whomever needed him, no matter if he had to let his own assignments wait. Billy enjoyed time with family and friends. He loved to argue points he thought important so much that some of us would give in to him just so he would hush up. Billy was saved and blessed by our Lord at age eight. He liked to study the Bible and would call his Grandmother and Uncle Clyde to ask questions trying to understand the Lords word. Billy was interested in many things, books, movies, trucks, motorcycles, but his first love was music. He taught himself to play the banjo, guitar and accordion, playing bluegrass and religious music. His favorites were "Cripple Creek" and "Amazing Grace". Many a time he woke his mom and dad at 2 or 3 a.m. to see if he was playing a song correctly. Billy our son, my brother, my grandson, my nephew, my uncle, my uncle, my friend, you will forever be missed but never forgotten. We love you. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2008 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Little Niangua Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blue Moon Sanctuary of Linn Creek. Billy loved animal and had a very soft place in his heart for the sick and injured. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
