George Douglas Garrett

George Douglas Garrett, son of George Robert Garrett and Harriet Marie (Copeland) Garrett, was born, September 13, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life, December 3, 2024, in his home, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 20 days.

George "Dougie" Garrett grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Pattonville High School. Throughout his teens, he worked in his parent’s motorcycle shop- Garrett's Motorcycles. He also developed a love for music, and learned to play the accordion, piano and keyboard. He then played in several bands of various genres from rock-n roll to R&B. His lifelong claim to fame was that Ike and Tina Turner still owed him money.

He was married to Gloria Garrett for 17 years and together they had 2 children, Doug and Katy. His son Doug, died at age 23 in a traumatic accident; his daughter Katy currently works as a nurse in St Charles County, Missouri. He later met Suzanne, and they spent 35 years together, officially marrying in 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Harriett Garrett, and son, George Douglas Garrett.

He is survived by:

Spouse: Suzanne Garrett of Camdenton, MO

daughter: Katy Burke of Ballwin, MO

grandson: Mason Burke of Ballwin, MO

step daughter: Rose & Chris Hildebrandt of Ottawa, KS

step granddaughter: Emily & Matheus Oliviera of Wichita, KS

step granddaughter: Mikala Hildebrandt of Olathe, KS

step grandson: Lucas Hildebrandt of Ottawa, KS

step daughter: Sherri & Otto Klein of Evansville, IN

Step grandson: Hunter Klein of Evansville, IN

Brother: John & Karen Garrett of Lake Ozark, MO

He worked for various companies as an HVAC technician such as Carrier, Lake Regional Hospital, and serviced the Lake Ozark area for many years as a self-employed HVAC contractor. He was also a retired member of the Pipefitters Union.

Doug was well known for his distinctive laugh, which was quite loud and contagious. He "never met a stranger," and he was a master of telling long jokes. He enjoyed waking up early to watch the sun rise, watching the wildlife in his yard (with the exception of his ongoing fight with the squirrels), and spending time with friends and family. He loved the lake, sailing, and participating in Ozark Yacht Club races with his brother John. He had a way of making people smile, even when they didn't really want to, and he will be dearly missed.

He was a loving and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.

An intimate celebration of life to be held at the Duck Club Yacht Club in St Charles, Missouri on December 22nd. For more details, please inquire with family members.
