George W. Trego

GEORGE TREGO George William Trego, son of Jesse Jederburg and Florence Edna Hancock Trego, was born, April 24, 1926 in Cable, Illinois. He departed this life, Sunday, January 24, 2016, in Laurie Care Center, Laurie, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years and nine months. On January 18, 1945 in Norman, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Irma Irene Strawn and to this union five children were born. Together they shared seventy-one years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Martin Trego and Lawrence Wayne Trego and a brother, Bob Trego. Survivors include his wife, Irma Trego of Laurie, Missouri; three children, Steve Trego and wife Libby of Orion, Illinois, Cheryl Gipson and husband Barry of Roach, Missouri and Carol Botch and husband Steve of O'Fallon, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jayneen Scheffler and husband Shawn, Alison Mero and husband Patrick, Anna Gorman and husband Michael, Paul Botch and wife Ilene Davis and Alissa Johnston and husband Tony; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Trego of Prescott, Arizona; a sister, Carrol Rugh of Coal Valley, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. George was raised in Orion, Illinois and graduated from High School there. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Illinois and his bride to start a family. He retired as a Superintendent at Rock Island Bedding. He and Irma then moved to the Lake of the Ozarks to enjoy their golden years. George made a profession of faith and was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church and assisted in the building of the church. He was a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 143 in Orion, Illinois. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golf and gardening. He loved doing woodwork and made beautiful unique crosses. He could often be found strumming on his guitar and others singing along. Most of all, his family was important to him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Peace Lutheran Church under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10-11a.m., Wednesday in the church. Graveside services and burial will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2016 in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge, Illinois. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
